To celebrate the launch of PROTOTYPE 2 this week, gamers can now choose a side in the ultimate showdown of 2012, thanks to the launch of mobile and web-based app, PROTOTYPE 2 Factions, available from www.prototype2factions.com or at www.facebook.com/prototype.
The sequel to Radical Entertainment’s best-selling open-world action game of 2009, PROTOTYPE 2 takes the unsurpassed carnage of the original and continues the experience of becoming the ultimate shape-shifting weapon. As the game’s all-new infected protagonist, Sgt. James Heller, players will hunt, kill and consume their way toward the ultimate goal – to kill Alex Mercer! Bringing this epic conflict to the streets of Europe, players of PROTOTYPE 2 Factions are recruited to one of two groups, where they’ll find themselves either influencing their city on behalf of Heller or infecting it for Mercer.
Available today, the app will log players’ locations in real time, with participants ‘spreading’ the Blacklight virus further the longer they stay in one spot. Inspired by the vast arsenal of deadly biological weapons and abilities that Heller has at his disposal in PROTOTYPE 2, PROTOTYPE Factions features a unique mini-game where gamers will deploy some of these signature maneuvers in their battle to dominate Europe. The winners of each individual encounter will be awarded experience points that will enable them to level up and compete for prizes including an all-expenses-paid trip to New York City, exclusive PROTOTYPE 2 merchandise and the new iPad®.
