We had some hardcore Sonic 3 players show up and put people to shame by scoring over 100,000 points each in only five minuets! We know that’s no easy task so Richard grabbed a quick interview with winner Adam Winters, the man who showed us Sonic’s potential!

UG: Tell us a little about yourself Adam.
AW: Well, my name is Adam Winters, I’m originally from Tennessee but I’ve been in Louisville the past few years working on my Seminary degree.

UG: Have you ever played Sonic 3 before?
AW: Oh yeah, Sonic 3 was actually the game that made me ask for a Sega Genesis. I got one [genesis] for my birthday in ’94 and Sonic 3 was among the first four games I received as gifts for it!
UG: Awesome! My first game was actually Sonic 2.
AW: Yeah, that was actually in that group of four games I received as well.

UG: When’s the last time you played Sonic 3?
AW: I’ve been practicing for this tournament so I’ve been at it heavily for the past couple of weeks, but you never really quit playing Sonic 3, you keep coming back to it again and again.

UG: What’s your favorite console of all time?
AW: That’s a tough question…has to be one of the Sega systems. I have a hard time picking between the Genesis and the Dreamcast…but since it’s draw between them I’ll just pick the NES. When in doubt just go with the NES.
UG: I’ts THE classic system.
AW: So true.

UG: Have you ever heard of The Unpaid Gamers before?
AW: I have not. How long have you guys been around?
UG: We officially launched in Jan. of 2012, and this is our second time sponsoring the Retro Game Day tournaments.
AW: Well, sounds like you guys have something cool going here, I’ll definitely check out your site!

Great interview Adam!

Adam won a $25 dollar gift card to Half Price books, an Unpaid Gamers T-shirt, a FREE pizza, and a copy of Sonic CD for PC.

Jealous??? You don’t have to be. Half Price Books throws these tournaments once a month and we will always let you know when they are and what the game challenge will be.

(I may have heard a rumor that the next challenge will have something to do with Mario Kart 64…)
