CD Projekt RED has released a new video detailing the history of the legendary class of monster slayers known as the witchers from the upcoming action RPG,  The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition.   Why are the witchers able to drink poisonous potions? Why do they wield two types of swords? Why are they the masters of combat? All these questions are answered in the latest video released by the creators of the game.

The two minute animation shows off the incredible powers and physiology of  the witchers  in vivid, animated detail.  With these abilities, the witchers were both feared and revered, particularly the one known as Geralt of Rivia, the protagonist of  The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition which launches April 17 worldwide for the Xbox 360 and PC.

The video is part of the new cinematic introduced in The Enhanced Edition and its purpose Is to demonstrate the game world to players unfamiliar with the franchise.

In  The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, players take on the role of Geralt, a professional monster slayer who became embroiled in the political turmoil in the Kingdom of Temeria by helping to squash the rebellion undertaken by The Order of the Flaming Rose, and who saved the King’s life by protecting him from a witcher-like assassin. A time of untold chaos has come as mighty forces clash behind-the-scenes in a struggle for power and influence. The Northern Kingdoms now mobilize and prepare for war. But armies on the march are not enough to stop a bloody conspiracy. Someone is hunting crowned heads and every assassination attempt intensifies the chaos.
