Today’s Retro Game Day tournament was a blast and full of upsets! The leader board got erased TWICE and that threw the entire tournament up for grabs. Jose sat down towards the end of the tournament and blew everyone away with an awesome score. We caught up with Jose and Rob from The Unpaid Gamers grabbed a quick interview after his victory.

UG: So have you ever played Bust A Move before? Jose: I have. I play it on my NEO-GEO and I practiced on my SNES emulator. UG: So when is the last time you have played it? Jose: Well, after it was announced to be the next game after the last Retro Game Day, I’ve been practicing since then. UG: Have you ever heard of The Unpaid Gamers before? Jose: No, I haven’t. Were you guys here last time? UG: No, this is our first tournament. Jose: Well, i guess its destiny then. I’ll definitely check out your site. UG: Whats your favorite console of all time. Don’t worry, we wont judge. Jose: That’s a great question. I would have to say Game Boy. It’s so great… It’s portable, easy to get games… and there are a lot of good games, especially RPG’s. UG: Do you have the big grey/white [original] one? Jose: I do! I have every Game Boy that has come out, until they started releasing the DS line. UG: Oh wow! Gotta Catch em’ all! Jose: HA! Actually, I DON’T have any of the Pokemon editions of Game Boy Color…kids always scratch them up so I never find one in good condition. UG: Are you going to compete again next month? Jose: Yes. It’s Sonic 3, and we go way back. UG: Ha, yeah, I understand, Sonic 2 and I go way back as well. Thanks for the great interview!
Jose won a $25 gift card to Half Price Books, a “Unpaid Gamers” t-shirt, and a free pizza!
Don’t forget next month’s tournament game is Sonic 3. We will keep you guys updated!
