Game Connection today announced that independent developer Wolpertinger Games’ upcoming title Phobos has won the Game Connection America 2012 Best Selected Project award. Featuring a unique art style and a tense, twisted plot, Phobos provides a highly immersive experience for fans of suspense and horror game genres and is currently in development for major platforms, including Xbox LIVE.
“Our Selected Projects program helps shed light on some of the more innovative projects that are currently in development by independent studios”, said Pierre Carde, CEO of Game Connection. “Phobos captured our attention and imagination this year with its high-quality graphics and unique storyline that will have players on the edges of their seats. Game Connection is proud to support and lend more visibility to this project and its developer, Wolpertinger Games”.
“We invested a lot of time and effort to create Phobos and are very happy and proud of this achievement”, said Sebastian Bender, Managing Director of Wolpertinger Games. “This award takes us one step closer to release – and we’re definitely not afraid of inviting publishers or other partners to join us in this venture”.
Immersing players in the terrifying world inside a psychopath’s mind, players must keep their wits about them in order to escape from a mental prison. From a 1st person perspective, gamers must maneuver through the game by utilizing floating anchor points to propel them through levels of gameplay. Darkness rules the world, and players must utilize light strategically to prevent them from falling off the map into the oblivion. Featuring a unique art style with strong contrasts, an interactive soundscape and a narrator whose comments intensify the suspense and terror of the twisted plot, Phobos is currently in development for Xbox LIVE.
