You know what they say…”One man’s trash is another man’s bad ass Magnavox Odyssey 2″… I think that’s the quote anyway.

Like I talked about in one of my previous NES articles, thrift stores are FILLED with video game stuff. I find something almost every time I go. This time was my second favorite find ever. Sitting on a dusty shelf the psychedelic 70’s box art caught my eye and begged me to buy it so I could play it once and never touch it again, just like the previous owner.

Here’s what was in the box.

-Original packaging, and system instruction manual

-Odyssey 2 complete with all hookups, and two joystick controllers

-9 games, all instruction books included

If you’re a fan of vintage video game stuff, this is pretty cool. Though this is the Odyssey 2, the Magnavox Odyssey is considered to be the world’s first home video game system, so this is early stuff.  It’s crazy to bring this home and find everything works with no problems after being almost 35 years old. It has a very innovative design for being from the 70’s, when home computing or gaming consoles were uncharted waters.

If you’re looking for stuff like this in the real world, it will turn up, just be patient and keep looking. If you don’t want to wait, there is always Ebay…but it can get a little pricey. If you like James Bond, might I suggest Daniel Craig.
