Take Arms was released by Discord Games as a Xbox Live indie title. I first heard about the game and immediately fell in love with it’s high action gameplay. The best part about this release is (at the point of review) simply the price tag.
The full game will only cost you 80 Microsoft points and to be honest it is the best dollar you will ever spend. The gameplay as you see in the trailer is a side scrolling run and gun shooter that is very well animated, contains sharp visuals while maintaining a retro feel that is extremely rewarding. Take Arms is a class-based multiplayer experience that can either be played Online with 8 players or in a Solo mode in which you battle A.I. controlled bots. The game also includes a system link option as well. There are three maps, three diverse classes to choose from, (one of which includes a sniper) and three different game modes. The game types consist of deathmatch, team deathmatch, and capture the flag.
The experience is actually very similar to more popular multiplayer shooters out there due to it’s experience point system and stat tracking.
You simply cannot go wrong with purchasing this game. It is a solid first effort that deserves a closer look.
