Mass Effect: Paragon Lost, the Production I.G (Ghost in the Shell) animated film adaptation of BioWare’s blockbuster sci-fi video game series, will feature an original musical score composed by award-winning transmedia composers Joshua R. Mosley (Max Steel vs The Toxic Legion, Splosion Man) and David Kates (Mass Effect 1 & 2). The Mass Effect: Paragon Lost Original Soundtrack will be released by FUNimation Entertainment for digital download on iTunes and other digital music stores to coincide with the film’s one night only theatrical screening on November 29th at various theaters across the country. Award-winning composers in crossmedia entertainment, lead composer Joshua R. Mosley previously scored music for Mattel’s Max Steel vs The Toxic Legion animated film and Twisted Pixel’s Splosion Man/Ms. Splosion Man video games, and has been honored with seven Telly Awards, an Aurora Award and Apex Award, while fellow composer David Kates is best known for scoring BioWare’s epic sci-fi games Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2, which received Best Original Music Awards from IGN, GameSpot, GameSpy as well as British Academy of Film and Television Arts and Spike TV Video Game Award nominations for Best Original Score. Inspired by Paragon Lost‘s compelling story, Mosley and Kates have created a dramatic orchestral score featuring ’80s electronic sci-fi elements to immerse fans in the Mass Effect universe.
“Our goal through all of this was always to find the deeper meaning, the humanity if you will – while also capturing that Mass Effect essence that we all know and love,” commented Mosley and Kates. “We believe we have expressed that through the musical score and are very excited to share this with the Mass Effect fans.”
Mass Effect: Paragon Lost, the prequel to Mass Effect 3, follows the early career of Alliance Marine James Vega, as he leads an elite Special Forces squad into battle against mysterious aliens known as The Collectors. Stationed in a remote star system, Vega and his troops must stop the insectoid warriors determined to collect the human population for unknown purposes. Freddie Prinze Jr. reprises his role from the games as James Vega for the film, directed by Atsushi Takeuchi.
The Mass Effect: Paragon Lost Blu-ray/DVD Combo and DVD will be available on December 28th, 2012. For more information on Mass Effect: Paragon Lost, please visit http://www.masseffectparagonlost.com.
